Zach is senior advisor for the law student support team in the Faculty of Business and Law.

He has been working at The Open University since November 2016, providing advice to new and existing students, either by phone or email.

I’m a postgraduate student at the Open University, however, I started my university education on a OU level 1 general humanities course in 2001.  I was the first person in my family to complete a degree, after which I progressed to study a Masters in Education in End of Life Care, and now I’m at PhD level study researching hospice care, so I am proof anyone can do it! I am passionate about people, which includes learning about people, lives, interactions and communication. It is important to balance study, work, family and life and I do this by watching football most weekends, going to live music events and being a member of my local church.  My favourite thing about the OU is the friendly, helpful, supportive network of people you are becoming part of!

Zoe has worked in Assessment, Credit and Qualifications (ACQ) at The Open University (OU) since 2008, working in both policy and operational roles. She has also studied a number of OU modules in that time, achieving a Master of Laws in 2018 and is currently on her final year of an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences (Biology). She has an ambition to one day hold a qualification from each of the four faculties at the OU.

When she isn’t working or studying at the OU, Zoe can normally be found with her head in a book or messing about with her dogs, particularly trying (and usually failing) to go the right way around a dog agility course.

Initially working on OpenStudio before focusing on online tutorials and managing the use of Adobe Connect, and more recently working on Open STEM Labs. She is interested in all aspects of online tutorials that reach beyond the tools we use; how we present and deliver content and build accessibility into all online tutorials.

Dr Zoe Walkington is an OU academic who worked as an associate lecturer in psychology for many years before joining the OU as a staff tutor, and then a central academic. She currently works as the Deputy Director for Learning in the Centre for Policing Research and Learning. Zoe’s research interests are in police interviewing and also in how stories shape how we think and feel about the world and other people. Outside of work Zoe is a keen poet, enjoys getting beaten at tennis, and learning a dance called Balboa (which is a fast Lindyhop dance). Zoe is also the owner of a Whippet named Gatsby.
