Iain Bown is a Student Recruitment and Support Adviser, and has worked at the OU for 7 years. The role is predominantly about gathering information from students and enquirers, then providing the necessary information so informed decisions can be made.

Biography to follow.

Ian Cheyne is Deputy President of the OU Students Association. His role involves supporting the President and standing in for them in their absence, being part of the Central Executive team, overseeing the implementation of the Student Engagement Strategy and representing the interests of Post Graduate students at the OU. Ian is currently studying for a Masters in Creative Writing.

Ian Eyres is a Senior lecturer in primary education, a field in which he has worked as a teacher, writer and researcher since the 1970s. His work at the OU has related to many aspects of children’s language, from learning to write, to learning English in schools around the world. He led the initial development of the University’s first primary education foundation degree and is currently a member of two module production teams within the new Education Studies (Primary) degree programme. At the moment he is working on a book about English in Action, a very large-scale English teacher development project in Bangladesh. When he gets the chance, he enjoys cycling.

Ian is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This means he has overall responsibility for the staff, students, budget and academic policy and performance of the Faculty

Ian has been a trainer with Charlie Waller since 2016, working on a range of projects and initiatives across children's mental health.

Ian's background was initially in the field of sport sciences, and subsequently navigated to postgraduate study and roles in the field of public health. He has a particular interest in the social determinants of health.

Ian Wairua

Ian Wairua is a faculty member and doctoral fellow at Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya.

Ian is passionate about improving the learning experience for university students in Africa through the use of innovative and emerging learning technologies. He has extensive teaching experience working at both university and secondary school levels. He also worked for the Japanese diplomatic mission in Nairobi administering and running their education and communication programs. Ian currently teaches two undergraduate courses: Basic Japanese Language, and Trends in Digital Communication. He is actively involved in communication training for university academics through Strathmore University's Centre for Academic Development. He has also given training to university administrative staff, and to the parents of undergraduate students under the University Mentoring Services.

Ieman Hassan is a Staff Tutor in the School of Social Sciences and Global Studies and Module Co-Chair of DD102. She has worked for the Open University as an Associate Lecturer for 20 years, teaching primarily on the Social Sciences Introductory Level 1 entry module.

I’m currently in the penultimate year of my law degree and studying W203 and W330. I will be studying W302 next year along with the new Justice in Action module W360, which I am especially excited about.

On completion of my degree I hope to complete the Bar Professional Training Course with a view to qualifying as a barrister in the area of criminal law or tort law.

I am an active member of the Open University Law Society, and have greatly enjoyed mooting with the intervarsity team over the past year.

I am incredibly passionate about the Open University, through which I have had the most challenging and inspiring experiences of my life.

Isabella is one of our main presenters at Student Hub Live. She has been an Associate Lecturer with the Open University (OU) since 2005, before which she completed her Masters in Science with the institution. 

Having done a number of further degrees with the OU and through past work as a freelance researcher and writer, Isabella has written more essays than she cares to remember, so loves helping people to unpick what is important. 

Isabella tutors on 7 modules from Access to level 2 as well as being involved in study skills and online skills training so is very used to multitasking and meeting a variety of deadlines. According to Isabella, the flexibility of the OU and the ability to fit it in with the rest of life is the best bit of the University.

Isidora Kourti is a Lecturer in Management at the Open University Business School since 2017. Prior to this, Isidora was a Senior Lecturer at Regent’s University London and an Associate lecturer at the London School of Economics (LSE), where she completed her PhD in Organisational and Social Psychology. Isidora’s current research focuses on organisational and inter-organisational settings and has led several research projects exploring issues, such as identity development, traditional and emergent working designs, working spaces and paradoxes, and looking at their theoretical and practical implications for the management of organisations and collaborative work. Isidora has more than 10 years of teaching experience in higher education and has obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from the London School of Economics.
