Engaging with legal and business experts to examine the issues and demands of how we work in the ā€˜new normalā€™ will scope the current landscape including addressing the ethics and legality of vaccines for work. If anyone had considered a flu or virus pandemic in their risk mitigation planning previously, they would have thought about of maybe outbreaks in recent times such as swine flu. They would not have imagined the wholescale and widereaching changes the last 18 months have seen across the world. Even beyond the health implications and very sad outcomes for so many, governments, businesses and individuals have grappled with massive change; some businesses have prospered, other businesess have struggled or failed. How does innovation help some busineses succeed against such massive adversity: affecting their supply chains, manufacturing, business relationships and more?

This session brings to life some of the meaning for business behind the word innovation, every business can learn from this and every student, in every profession.

The COVID pandemic has shone a light on inequality between workers. It also has sped up progress towards more flexible working patterns. That process may benefit some. But what about the challenges of a possible increase in insecure work and the implications for achieving a work-life balance and separating the home from the workplace? Take part in a unique interdisciplinary discussion opportunity, bringing together business and law students. Learn about business ethics and how the law is keeping up. You will be guided by OU experts through different arguments and learn about the experiences and perspective of others. The event will reveal how relevant your existing knowledge and skills are and build your confidence as an effective agent for change. It will also provide content for discussions with others, including potential contacts and future employers.

We invite you to join an open discussion that relates to how the state should shape a pathway out of the Covid-19 pandemic following the mass vaccination taking place. Students will interact in the discussion via answering a poll and feeding their views to fuel the debate.

The debate will examine some of the deeper political, legal and sociological issues when looking at the implications mandatory vaccination or making it a requirement to hold a vaccine passport as means for people to enjoy their freedoms. This will provide you with an opportunity to explore consequences rules/guidance has on human rights, the constitution, and the power of the state.

The discussion will highlight the difficulties governments face when seeking to find a balance between maintaining individual freedom whilst setting/enforcing laws/regulations/guidance. Please join the debateā€¦
