Dr Henry Stead is a research fellow at the Open University. His research focuses on how the ancient Greek and Roman classics are seen, adapted, played with and made sense of in the modern world. He has written and published a book about the Roman poet Catullus and his reception in Romantic-era Britain, and is currently writing a book with Edith Hall on British Classics and social class until 1939.
His favourite Roman poet is Catullus, his favourite ancient play is Medea and his favourite mythical character is Marsyas.
