Christine Heading

Christine has been an Associate Lecturer with the OU for 23 years, working part-time, mainly as a tutor supporting students on modules at levels from Masters to Level 1. She currently tutors students on the Level 1 module Science and Health. Her background is in the pharmaceutical industry and academia and she is a pharmacologist and pharmacist. Her career journey has included a career break after the birth of her children, followed by a return to work as a ‘portfolio worker’, working for a variety of organisations.

She gained her BSc and PhD from the University of Liverpool and is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Away from the OU, she in involved with a pharmacy group in NW London. There she helps to organise professional development events, and to run community pharmacy projects. Her role in these is to help with planning, analysis of results and reporting of findings. Until 2020, for a number of years she was on the executive committee the National Association of Women Pharmacists, the oldest professional women’s organisation in the UK.
