Presentation time: Thursday, 3 May, 2018 - 09:30

This session will look at some of the exciting research projects in The Open University’s School of Arts and Cultures, which brings together the disciplines of Art History, Classical Studies, English and Creative Writing, and Music. All our disciplines have international reputations for research excellence, through the work of individual researchers and research groups. This particular session will focus on Digital Humanities: an approach that has influenced the work of individual and group research in all areas of our School.

Digital Humanities Fellow Dr Francesca Benatti, Professor of Music David Rowland, and lecturer in Art History Dr Leah Clark will discuss four of our digital projects: The Reading Experience Database, The Listening Experience Database, Open Arts Objects and the Pelagios Project. The session will also show how research into Digital Humanities has informed teaching at The Open University and how digital approaches will continue to feed into our research and curriculum in the future.
