Cat Kimpton

Cat is the Project Assistant for Student Hub Live, and has been with the Open University since September 2022. She handles the day-to-day SHL emails, organises the event tickets on Eventbrite, designs and creates the images for each show, updates the SHL website/ Twitter, and collates the feedback after a workshop. She also is known to pop into the chat to help out with general queries. She is a first time OU student on Level 2 module T217, 'Design Essentials', and is enjoying the challenge and creativity.

Prior to SHL, she was a Dispensing Optician/ trainer/ qualified lecturer in vocational further education for 22 years, specialising in Optics, maths (functional L1/ L2/ foundation GCSE), and professional standards/ communications. She also has sat on the optical Fitness to Practise panel for over 4 years, and has marked theory papers for the main college for Ophthalmic Dispensing to keep her brain ticking over.

She is passionate about helping others, and loves making a difference to people's lives. In her spare time, she likes to experience other cultures (and foods), explore nature, watch films, listen to/ play music (singing or drumming, mainly grunge/ rock, or modern country), dabble with anything artsy, and fuss over her grumpy adopted British blue cat, Figaro.
