Wendy Turner

Dr Wendy Turner is Associate Head of School (Curriculum) in the School of Health, Wellbeing and Social Care. She is a registered nurse for Children and Young People and Learning Disabilities, and her practice included working across health, education and social care with children, young people and families in areas such as disability, palliative care and youth justice. In HE, Wendy has written curriculum in social care, health, nursing, wellbeing, education, youth work and youth justice for both professional and non-professional programmes. Wendy believes in tackling social inequalities through education and knowledge, and sees practice-based education, research and learning as a way to achieve this. Wendy’s research includes health, development and well-being, education and social care for children, young people and those with learning and other disabilities. She has engaged with co-production research with young people around understanding inequalities and social justice through health literacy, and also with an Erasmus+ research project to tackle Early School Leaving across Europe.
