Sue Watkins

Sue has worked at the OU for 16 years, firstly as a secretarial supervisor in the Faculty of Arts and going through various changes of role until taking on her current role of manager, student experience & nations in the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. She enjoys her role very much as it is mainly focused on students, including managing the communications to our students on the mentoring programme, running the student awards scheme, and making sure any complaints that come into the faculty are dealt with by the correct people and in a timely manner. Outside of work she has three grown-up children and an adorable one-year-old grandson. Her son lives in Suffolk, one of her daughters in London and the other in Guernsey so they’re all fairly scattered and she doesn't get to see them very often but it’s wonderful when she does. She finished her OU Law degree in 2017 and vowed never to study again. So she's starting a Masters in Creative Writing this October! Her husband is convinced she'll never retire. When not writing or reading, she loves to cook/bake and play the clarinet, although not both at the same time. She also enjoys tap dancing which she hopes to go back to once she's finished her MA in two years’ time.
