Lou Cromie

Lou Cromie (pronouns she/her) is a 46-year-old mother, wife & OU Student working towards a Combined STEM degree. She originally started out on the Open degree pathway but switched after discussing options with Student Support. She is currently about to start her second Level 2 course S290 (Investigating Human Health & Disease). Her first Level 1 course was SDK100 (Science & Health: an evidenced based approach) followed by DE100 (Investigating Psychology).

When Lou is not studying, she does volunteer work with the NHS Borders as a patient volunteer with the Chronic Pain Team. She also volunteers with Pain Concern helping to deliver the types of support available through them to patients of UK wide NHS trusts who have competed a Pain Management Programme. Having first-hand experience is a bonus to helping people realise that life can be rewarding and manageable when living with chronic pain conditions with a few adaptations. Lou is also a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer with the RAF Air Cadets, an organisation she has been involved with since she was 13.
