Ian Fribbance

 

Ian Fribbance is a professor of economics education and executive dean of the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences at the Open University, the largest faculty of its kind Europe. His track record of both teaching innovation and excellence and of widening participation have garnered him recognition, including a National Teaching Fellowship, an Open University Teaching Award, an Advance HE Principal Fellowship, and a shortlisting for the Times Higher Widening Participation Initiative of The Year. He led the production of the innovative financial education module ‘You and your money’, which has been studied by tens of thousands of students since its launch in 2006. In more recent years, Ian has presented successful teaching initiatives, such as live student conferencing and the FASS Facebook page at HEA Teaching Excellence and other conferences. In addition to his various executive roles and responsibilities, Ian is also the champion for the OU’s relationships with the FE sector and for LGBT+ staff and students.
