Debbie Hastings

Debbie originally trained in horticulture before taking this skill, along with crafts and music, into occupational therapy settings. Her first degree was achieved part time over seven years with Brunel University followed by teaching qualifications also studied part time. Her MEd was part time with The Open University and her research area was adult learning and widening participation. She also teaches, and has completed training in, goldwork embroidery.

Spanning three decades she has taught for a number of adult education providers including Denman College, mainly in occupational therapy settings using horticulture, music and crafts. She tutors on two OU Access courses Y032 People, work and society and YXM130 Make your learning count. She has a bi monthly embroidery group in Barnstaple teaching several embroidery skills including goldwork, stumpwork and ribbon embroidery. Her hobbies include walking her three Hungarian Vizsla dogs (they need lots of walks!).
