Claire Armstrong

Claire is a social scientist by trade has a PhD in Organisational Behaviour. She started tutoring for the OU in 2009 and became a Student Experience Manager in 2022. Aside from her research and teaching career she has done lots of other jobs that have added to her skill set.

These include waitressing, bartending, managing hospitality events, mucking out stables on a stud farm and perhaps weirdest of all, helping a vet do tuberculosis testing on cattle for two months one summer. She also founded and managed a Community First Responder Scheme in her local community and was a volunteer responder. She recently moved location, however, so for her sins, she’s considering starting another scheme in her new community. She is a keen sailor but doesn’t get to do as much of it as she would like. Apart from that, she reads a lot as well as tending to her menagerie, which currently includes a husband, two children, a mother-in-law, a pony, three goats, two cats and a dog – and will hopefully also contain some chickens in the not-too-distant future!
