In this session you will learn about studying with the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL). Gareth, a student representative, Simon, a law academic, and Mychelle, a head of student experience, will share tips for success and inspire you to get excited about being a business or law student.

Our terrific trio are looking forward to providing an insight into how you can get ready to start your studies. They will chat through ‘what not to worry about’ and suggest ways to help you settle in and feel part of the OU and FBL community.

A social media desk will be on call so that you can ask questions. Study links and fun links will also be provided.

We are urging all students, new and continuing, to join the session. Come and virtually meet us and your fellow students. You never know, Gary the cat may even make an appearance!

There’s more to studying law than you think… from Victorian cannibalism to twenty-first century views of marriage. This fun and interactive session will provide you with the opportunity to think about what legal study entails and perhaps challenge your preconceptions. Audience participation and discussions will allow us to explore some interesting areas of law and demonstrate how your thinking will develop on the course.

The aim of our session is to help reassure students who are feeling nervous about starting their studies. You might be a new student on your first venture to university; a transitioning student from a different career path or Further Education facility; or a seasoned student returning to study. Whatever your circumstances, we hope that hearing our first-hand accounts of our individual experiences will help alleviate any concerns you may have.

We will use this opportunity to encourage you, signpost you towards support resources and tools, and offer pointers to help you integrate into the wider OU community. We will also suggest ways to help you manage and maintain your wellbeing at every stage of your studies.

Come along to this session to learn about the apprenticeships we offer in the Faculty of Business and Law. We will talk about what to expect during your degree-level apprenticeship, how an apprenticeship could work for you and the key differences between a degree-level apprenticeship and the “traditional” degree module.
