Qian Kan

Dr Kan Qian is a Senior Lecturer in Chinese and Head of Chinese at the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics, as well as Senior Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (UK). She joined the Open University in 2009 and led the development of the beginners’ Chinese module L197, which she currently chairs. She was also one of the authors for the Level 1 introductory module Languages and cultures (L161) and is currently involved in the production of the MA in Translation Practices. Before joining the OU, she taught undergraduate Chinese Studies at the University of Cambridge (for 11 years) and Lancaster University (for 4 years), and worked for the BBC World Service as a translator and presenter.
