Jonquil Lowe

Jonquil Lowe is an economist specialising in personal finance, particularly pensions, tax, investments and the role of consumers in financial services markets. Much of her work as a researcher, and formerly as a journalist and consumer campaigner, concerns pensions, particularly the tension between individuals’ need for a secure income in retirement and the risks, costs and capabilities involved in achieving that.

Jonquil started her working life in stockbroking, has headed the Money Research Team at Consumers’ Association (now called Which?) and freelanced with consumer, regulatory and charitable organisations before joining the Economics Department at The Open University, so has a multi-dimensional view of personal finance. She is author of over 25 consumer books, and has co-authored a new student textbook, Essential Personal Finance, published earlier this year.

Maybe she should have been born under a water sign as current hobbies include swimming and watercolours – but not at the same time!
