Ben Langdown

I am Dr Ben Langdown. I am a lecturer in Sports Coaching here at The Open University.

My research passion lies within the areas of strength and conditioning and movement control / development and this was the focus of my PhD.

Most of my research has been done in the sport of golf and my current projects are looking at the warm-up protocols we can use in sport to benefit performance, the practice and competition volumes of junior golfers and the application of sports science to coaching. I love to apply all of this information through my role as Strength and Conditioning Coach for England Golf in the West Midlands and when working with other amateurs and touring professionals.

Besides golf, my other sporting passion is hockey, which I play on a regular basis through the winter season.

At the OU I am the current chair of EXCF224 Making your coaching and exercise instruction certificate count. In October 2017 I will be chairing E217 Sport and conditioning science into practice.  I have also been heavily involved in the development of the Augmented Reality App that is being used on E117 and am excited about the use of innovative technology in teaching and learning.
