Arlene Hunter

Arlëne Hunter is the Head of School of Environment, Earth and Ecosystem Sciences, within the Open University Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). She is also one of the STEM Faculty Academic Conduct Officers (ACOs), a role she has been doing for approximately 10 years.

Arlëne has long been interested in the concept of academic integrity and how best to help individuals learn, develop and apply good academic practices throughout their work. She was part of the team who developed the current university approaches on academic integrity and plagiarism, which included establishing the Academic Conduct Officer role and integrating the use of text-comparison software across the university. She was also involved in the creation of the ‘Developing good academic practices’ (DGAP) website in which she led on the design and writing of the introductory and advances quizzes, and contributed to other sections including collaborative learning and common knowledge.
