Presentation time: Monday, 12 March, 2018 - 15:45

This session focuses on Greek and Roman votive offerings: that is, objects that were left in sanctuaries for the gods, often to thank them (or hope) for their divine help. Emma-Jayne Graham and Jessica Hughes both conduct research into ancient votive offerings, and together they co-ordinate The Votives Project website (www.thevotivesproject.org).

In this session they will explain some of the background to this incredibly important aspect of ancient religion, before inviting the StudentHubLive audience to participate in an interactive quiz. Do you know what an ‘anatomical’ votive is, and can you recognise the different types? Join us to find out how these amazing objects can help us gain a deeper understanding of ancient ideas about the human body.
