Presentation time: Thursday, 14 June, 2018 - 15:00

I will introduce A229 Exploring the classical world, which is a brand new module that launches a degree that investigates all aspects of the classical world – that’s Greeks, Romans, the Mediterranean and Europe over a period of 1500 years.

To squeeze this into one module we’ve had to make some choices about what to include and what to leave aside to study later. We included Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, Athens in the fifth century, Greek theatre, the Roman republic, Latin love poetry, Cicero’s speeches, the assassination of Julius Caesar, and the history of ordinary Roman people. I’d like to find out how these choices match up with your expectations about the classical world.
