Case study: a method

Sue and Natalie introduce case study examples as a method for understanding children’s play and creativity. Throughout the module, lots of case studies are used to show different contexts of play and creativity in different countries. You will meet Ethan, a child who is observed as a case study throughout the module.

Natalie Canning

Natalie is a Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood at The Open University, and chair of E110 Young children’s play and creativity. Her background is in playwork and social work, supporting children to explore personal, social and emotional development through play.

Sue Callan

Sue Callan is an Associate Lecturer with the Open University, who occasionally works as a consultant author on modules in Early Years and Primary Degree pathways.
